Richmond Refinery Plume

Industrial plants (such as the Chevron Refinery in Richmond, CA) emit large amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, which can be detected downwind from the factory. On September 18th, 2020, we can see parts of the CO2 plume coming from the Chevron Refinery as the winds blow the refinery plume into the city of Richmond. Near the source, the plume is highly concentrated and localized, so it only reaches certain parts of the city. The same can be true for other point source emissions, greatly affecting nearby and downwind populations.
