The Exploratorium Bay node sits on the bay-facing side of the Exploratorium. Comparison to its sister node on the Embarcadero side of the building provides some insight into how quickly emissions decrease as they move away from the street. This comparison also allows deeper understanding of the magnitude of the emissions by the passing traffic on the Embarcadero. Given its proximity to the water, unusual events that this node witnesses include emissions from boats at the nearby piers. In May 2020 the fire at Pier 45 was observed as two peaks in the aerosol measurements at this node.
